    The Right Phone :

Networks around the world use different technology and different radio bands. T-Mobile UK is a GSM network on 1800MHz. To roam on a particular network you will need a compatible phone.

Depending on the network there are three scenarios.

  • You can use your current phone

  • You must hire or buy a new phone but you can use your current SIM card in it.

  • You must hire or buy a new phone and new SIM card

In our country lists we’ll tell you what phones are compatible with each network and where you can hire or buy them.

Single/dual/tri band
The band is the radio frequency a network uses. T-Mobile UK uses 1800MHz. All current T-Mobile phones are either dual band (900/1800MHz) or tri-band (900/1800/1900MHz). Some older phones may be single band (1800MHz).

Satellite phones
These are not dependent on land-based networks because they send and receive signals via satellite. You can use satellite phones across very wide areas; some work worldwide.

What’s my phone?
Your phone’s manual will say what band(s) it uses. Alternatively call the manufacturer or look on their website.
